Not going to be Hillary

Check this link

In an unusual move, Hillary Clinton's staff is creating a 40-member "whip team" at the Denver Democratic convention to ensure that her supporters don't engage in embarrassing anti-Obama demonstrations during the floor vote on her nomination, according to people familiar with the planning.

The VP announcement is going to be happening before the convention. If Clinton was going to be the VP pick, then there is no way this whip team to control protestors would have been created.

It isn't.  Secretary of State maybe.

Re: Not going to be Hillary (none / 0)

This team is being used for the Hillary roll call vote. It's a meaningless predictor as to who or who is not going to be the VP.

Yet I can see how you might think it since  they are announcing the VP before the convention and if was going to be Hillary why the "Whip Team."

Then again because she is speaking early everybody thinks it's not Hillary.

Truth is nobody, but Obama, the vetting team and a couple of other people know who the choice is. At this point I'm not even sure if the choice knows they are the choice :)

Faced with the choice between changing one's mind and proving that there is no need to do so, almost everyone gets busy on the proof.

Re: Not going to be Hillary (none / 0)

I have a feeling Obama and his campaign team are laughing their asses off over all the speculation, because it's exactly what they wanted--there's so much breathless yammering in the media over who's on the "short list" that nobody is even close to figuring out who it's going to be.

My gut feeling is this--if you've ever heard someone called the "front-runner" or "on the short list" for Obama's VP pick, it's not going to be them.

No Biden, no Kaine, no Bayh, no Sebelius, no Hagel, no Dodd...

My money is still on Clinton or Clark, but not a whole lot of money.  In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it's somebody we've never heard of before.

Re: Not going to be Hillary (none / 0)

That they wanted speculation is a clear indication of who it is if you think about it...

Re: Not going to be Hillary (2.00 / 1)

Exactly. Anyone who is nutty enough to damage the Democrats chances in the fall by protesting during the role call vote is probably also nutty enough to protest EVEN IF HILLARY IS THE VP.

At the end of the day, whether Hillary is the VP or not, Obama is still black, and that bothers many of these mentally ill PUMAs.

Fortunately, most of us are smart enough to tell the difference between these nuts and 99% of Hillary's supporters, who are great democrats.

Re: Not going to be Hillary (none / 0)

This "diary" ignores the fact Obama hasn't told anyone, and won't until maybe today.

Not buying it (2.00 / 3)

Let me tell you- many Clinton supporters will be protesting EVEN IF she is the VP.    They are protesting the DNC and it's shenanigans (and rightly so in my opinion).

So, as much as we like to read the tea leaves- I don't think this matters.  Also, perhaps Obama truly hasn't told his VP pick- therefore many plans are made without anyone really knowing (like scheduling everyone to speak at the convention).  Sorry, I don't think this argument holds water.

Yep (none / 0)

Hopefully they have a big demonstration outside of Harold Ickes's house.

Re: Not going to be Hillary (2.00 / 1)

that's proof of nothing except that Hillary wants her supporters to celebrate her historic run, and she wants Barack to win.  You could just as easily argue for the opposite, if she's on the ticket by then and some of her supporters are rude anyway, that could prove embarrassing to the ticket.

I"m still calling it for her, because of Barack. His message from the beginning, what  he defines as change, other than that he represents diversity, which is the same for her, is that he wants to forge consensus, to compromise for the sake of unity.

I think that will be his speech when he announces her, that it's what he's about and that will reinforce his 'message.'  Prove that he means it, it isn't just words.

Re: Not going to be Hillary (none / 0)

It is his message, but I don't know if his supporters will buy it.  Most of them still hate Hillary and harbor deep-seeded resentment over the primary.

Re: Not going to be Hillary (none / 0)

please, no obama supporter is not going to vote for obama if hillary is the vp pick.  if that is the case, then they should go vote for mccain cause we don't need cry babies in the democratic party.
